Philosophy on Art

Since I was young, I’ve loved drawing and sharing stories through play, games, and images. I’ve taken an all-encompassing approach to artmaking, balancing both the academic side of studying art history and traditional techniques with the natural progression of creativity that comes from artmaking.

While my primary mediums are painting and drawing, I see them as just a means to to share ideas that I happen to enjoy most. I also enjoy exploring creativity in many different forms, like cooking and creating videos.

My work connects everyday life and culture, using the power of visual language to explore ideas without being confined to “highbrow” or “lowbrow” forms of art.

I aim to make artwork that is visually engaging, rooted in strong concepts and research, and grounded in solid art fundamentals.

By blending the referential ideas of Western art practices with the holistic, process-driven approach found in Eastern traditions, my goal with Studio Weeven is to offer inspired artwork that makes art collecting and appreciation approachable to a wider audience.
